Hand-N-Hand
Therapy was founded in 1990 by Diane Stroud PT, Advanced
Certified Rolfer® and Pamela Wood PT, LLCC (certified
Lymphedema therapist). Having met through the Visiting
Nurse Association (VNA), both brought unique skills to
the field. Diane having a passion for women's health and
the mind/body connection; and Pam with the desire to mix
the art with the science of the physical therapy field.
Together they joined forces to create one of the longest
standing woman owned, holistic physical therapy clinics
in Virginia. And in 2007 Hand N Hand Therapy officially
became SWaM certified and has proudly joined the ranks
of other small, women owned minority businesses. In 2008,
Hand N Hand Therapy was accepted into the National Green
Pages™ for their environmentally aware business
practice.
Our past 29 years of experience in physical therapy and
rolfing® has made us understand the body as a balanced
structure that lends itself to efficient and fluid movement
patterns. When this balance is disrupted through physical
or life stresses, a "dis-ease" of function may develop,
ultimately manifesting as annoying or incapacitating symptoms.
As seasoned manual therapists we attempt to identify these
imbalances and provide the necessary reeducation to enable
the body to reclaim a greater state of health, comfort
and balance.
While we offer many therapy services and modalities, the
hands and eyes are our key tools. Our 2700 sq. ft. clinic
serves as a great support for the following: musculoskeletal,
neuromuscular and lymphatic evaluations; individualized
hands-on physical therapy care in private treatment rooms;
rolfing® sessions; manual lymphatic drainage techniques
(LDT and MLD); movement analysis, neuromuscular reeducation,
tailored exercises, individualized gym programs, patient
education and group classes.
In the interest of education and wellness,
we welcome patient's family, friends or practitioners
to join us at Hand N Hand, and we will happily coordinate
your treatment program with any of your other practitioners. |
